Private Fermentation Workshops in Lisbon: For Hen Parties, Teams & Groups

Lisbon is one of the top destinations in Europe for hen parties, bachelorette weekends, and corporate retreats. And while the city has no shortage of walking tours, wine tastings and boat trips, there's a quieter, more hands-on experience that's become one of our most requested offerings: a private fermentation workshop.

What Is a Private Fermentation Workshop?

A private session is exactly what it sounds like: the whole workshop, exclusively for your group. No other participants. Just you and the people you brought, getting your hands into kimchi or kombucha in a space that feels like a friend's kitchen, not a conference room.

We take care of all the setup — ingredients, jars, equipment, welcome drinks, timing. You just show up.

Why It Works So Well for Groups

Fermentation is inherently collaborative. You're working with the same ingredients, making the same decisions, tasting the same thing at different stages. It generates conversation naturally.

There's no "right answer" in a fermentation workshop. No performance pressure. Nobody fails at kimchi. Which makes it surprisingly relaxing for groups that might be coming from very different backgrounds.

Hen Parties & Bachelorette Celebrations in Lisbon

Lisbon is the hen party capital of Southern Europe, and we've designed private sessions specifically for celebration groups. The kimchi + kombucha combo session is our most popular choice — three hours, two products, plenty of time to laugh, eat, and drink between tasks.

We add a celebratory welcome drink, and you can bring your own bubbly if you'd like to continue after. Groups have ranged from intimate (4 friends) to full celebrations (14 people).

Popular format for hen parties: Kimchi + Kombucha Combo Session (~3 hours), welcome prosecco on arrival, take-home jar for each participant, option to add a tasting of other ferments.

Corporate Team Building in Lisbon

We run private fermentation workshops for corporate groups visiting Lisbon — startups, agencies, international teams on off-sites, and companies looking for something more interesting than a paint-and-sip.

Fermentation translates well into a team-building context: it's collaborative, educational, unexpected, and naturally leads to conversations about food systems and sustainability.

Sessions can include a short discussion component on fermentation, the microbiome, and why traditional fermented foods are having a moment globally. Or we can keep it purely practical.

Group sizes: 4-16 people. Duration: 2-4 hours depending on format. Available: weekdays, evenings, weekends.

Birthdays, Family Groups & Friends

We regularly host birthday celebrations, groups of friends who've all been curious about fermentation, family groups spanning multiple generations, and visitors to Lisbon who want to do something together that isn't a tour.

Workshop Options for Private Groups

Kimchi Workshop (~2 hours) — Make traditional Korean kimchi from scratch. Take-home jar for everyone.

Kombucha Workshop (~2.5 hours) — Full brew process, SCOBY care, flavouring. Starter kit to take home.

Kimchi + Kombucha Combo (~3.5 hours) — Our most requested private format. Do both. Leave with both.

Miso & Umami (~2.5 hours) — Deeper dive into koji and miso-making. Ideal for food-curious groups.

Bespoke — Have another idea? Get in touch.
